About Dave
Dave Satlin was hired as the first Soccer Researcher in the history of ESPN in 1995. A lifetime sports fan, especially devoted to soccer, Dave’s first major project was the FIFA 1998 World Cup coverage for ABC and ESPN. For over a decade, his ability to connect with soccer talent and producers was legendary behind the scenes at ESPN and helped lift ESPN’s soccer coverage to new heights.
ESPN Deportes launched in 2004 and Dave transitioned into a field producing role for the new channel. When the 2010 FIFA World Cup was declared an ESPN Company priority in 2009, Dave returned to his soccer roots one more time to lead the Research efforts on ESPN’s Emmy Award winning World Cup coverage.
In 2012, Dave jumped into a new phase of News Gathering by embracing the ESPN Bureau Kit camera package. With the versatility to produce and shoot content at a high level, Dave continued his successful career and became the longest-serving Bureau Producer in the history of ESPN Deportes. Dave’s ability to efficiently produce, shoot and uplink content proved to be a valuable asset to ESPN as he was assigned to just about every major high profile sporting event.
Dave’s career has taken him to dozens of countries, working with a wide variety of people from different cultures, and at the same time creating a truly global network of colleagues and friends who all share a love of telling stories about people through the lens of sports.
